A small collection

Commonplace

Field notes on walking, making things, and paying attention.

A page for the ordinary

A notebook works best when it is close at hand. A few lines after a walk can keep the shape of a place: the turn beside a river, the sound of rain on a roof, or the late light across a table.

Carry less

There is something useful about a small bag. A pencil, a folded map, water, and enough room for whatever the day brings. Leave time between destinations.

Make a little room

Clear a corner of the desk. Put the book you want to read within reach. Begin with a page, then another. Small routines have a way of becoming a place to return to.
